What is Discover Scuba Diving? Your first dive experience

The DSD is not a certification course, but a thrilling, guided experience with minimal necessary training to dive without a license. It’s ideal if you’re short on time or simply want to “try before you buy” a full course. With our expert instructors by your side, you’ll learn the basic scuba techniques, become comfortable with the equipment, and experience weightlessness in beautiful underwater settings.

Your experience includes:

  • Theoretical Introduction: A simple briefing on the fundamentals of diving physics, safety rules, how to equalize your ears, underwater signals, and movement.
  • Shallow Water Skills Practice: Get familiar with the gear and practice essential safety skills in shallow, controlled conditions in our exclusive private practice pool until you feel comfortable.
  • Two Open Water Dives: Once you’re ready, our boat will take you for two amazing dives in Nusa Penida! Flexible scheduling for your Nusa Penida Try Dive

We offer flexibility to fit your schedule for your Discover Scuba Diving in Nusa Penida experience. You select your preferred dive date when booking, and then you have two options for completing the required training beforehand:

Option A (Recommended – Day Before Training): Arrive at our dive center the afternoon BEFORE your planned dive date. Recommended arrival times are typically from 13:00 (1 PM) to 15:30 (3:30 PM). This allows you to complete the theory and shallow water skills practice in a relaxed manner, ready for your exciting dives the following morning.

Option B (Same Day Training): If you only have one day available, you can arrive early on your dive date itself (around 7:00 AM) to complete the required training before the boat departs for your dives.

Crucial note on morning dive departure: Regardless of when you do your training, the boat departure time for your two open water dives on your chosen dive date is dependent on daily tide conditions. The approximate meeting time is 8:00 AM, but this can vary by up to +/- 1 hour. It is essential that you contact us the day before your planned dive date to confirm your training time (if applicable) AND the exact meeting/boat departure time for your morning dives.

Requirements to join:

You only need to meet a few basic requirements to try scuba diving in Nusa Penida:

  • Be 10 years old or older.
  • Be in good health (you’ll complete a medical questionnaire).
  • Knowing how to swim is advisable for comfort, but not strictly necessary for the DSD itself under direct supervision.
  • Allow a minimum of 18 hours before your last dive and your next flight.

How long does it take?

The total experience typically takes approximately half a day.
